The environment is not the only issue in this election. It's the most important but not the only one. I don't understand why the Liberals, the N.D.P. or the Green Party aren't pushing the idea of concentrated federal support to assist both major issues of environment and economy, by pouring money and effort into sustainable, fuel efficient vehicles. Wind power, solar power, hydrogen, air power; there are so many practical and useable alternatives to fossil fuels, the powers that be seem unable to break through the 'oil' barrier. Prime Minister Harper has one major agenda and that seems to be to cater to his business friends and dupe the rest of us. He wants a Conservative majority government and seems willing to deceive us to get it. What happens tomorrow if we run out of gas for our vehicles or the gas companies 'cut us off'? There would definitely be some calamity, but I bet our resourcefulness and creativity would have us on the road again by next year. We are all proud Canadians, who will never roll over and accept someone else's concept of a fate for us.

Sweaters, ball hockey games, and pooping puffin's aside, we can't play 'spin the issue' anymore. It's time to do things right. It's time to help the economy by helping the environment. It's never been (as a conservative might say) an either/or dilemna. Let's do both, do both right, do ourselves proud and the planet, healthy.

I have always voted my conscience in both Provincial and Federal elections, despite being warned about 'wasting' my vote on a party that has little or no chance of achieving power.

With the world in an ever increasing…
