The new enemy is people who believe you can safely procrastinate dealing with global warming
I am beside myself with frustration and anger at how many politicians and media people are under the delusion that reducing greenhouse gas emissions is optional, that they can safely procrastinate dealing with global warming until some future time when they imagine dealing with it would be easier. It will never be easier than now.
They imagine they can put the problem on hold to deal with pressing economic problems. They imagine God would never send us two serious challenges at once to deal with.
They remind me of an old woman trapped in her burning house. You break in and try to pull her to safely. She says, "I don't want to go outside. It's cold. I want to stay here and finish my tea." You explain,"I understand, but the house is on fire and I am here to help you escape." She says, "I don't believe the house is on fire." You say "Can't you smell the smoke? Can't you see the flames licking at the other wing of the house? Can't you hear the fire engines?" "Yes, I can, but I think it is just some trick so you can steal my chocolate chip cookies."
