i hear alot of people these days talk about global warming and greenhouse gases. everybody seems to think they have some kind of plan to decrease emissions by 30%, or 50% or 80% depending on who you listen to but i never hear anything about constantly multiplying human race. if in 20 years we reduce our emission output by 50% but at the same time double the population are we not still producing the same emissions? along with more consumption and more waste of everything from food to synthetic products. ever expanding humanity will eventually choke out all other species along with ourselves. it seems like simple math. if there were only say 100,000 people on the planet imagine how much less food, energy and material we would need to harvest from this planet.
i'm not suggesting to stop having children but maybe if every two people produced one instead of 3 we could make significant reductions in our impact to the planet instead of just pretending to.
if we can't , i'm sure the planet will get along just fine without us.

I find it bizarre that various governments in Canada offer all manner of financial incentives to encourage people to have children. Income tax, family allowance and even baby bonuses.
Humans have hard wired all sorts of behaviours like gorging, territoriality, racism, fear of strangers, focus on the present, superstition, having as many children as possible, consuming maximally... that served us well when we lived in caves, but today are going to be the death of us all.
