I read that nitrous oxide forms 9% of greenhouse gases.  I presume that number includes weighting to account for the fact it is a 296 times more potent greenhouse gas than CO2.

It is the gas that makes Viagra work. It is known as laughing gas N2O.  60% of it comes from nitrogen fertilisers. This got me wondering, are there fertiliser formulations that don't emit nitrous oxide when they break down?  Using a new fertiliser formulation might be a fairly painless way to reduce greenhouse gas.  A slow release formulation might also save labour and fuel to apply it.

As many scientists have pointed out we have to quickly get to ZERO emissions since the damage in cumulative.  This means stopping methane and nitrous oxide emissions too.
